Questions and Answers

1. Question: Can you pick us from the airport?
Answer: Yes. We have our own hotel airport pick up service. Our pick up price is US$ 29. When you book your room please let us know if you want us to pick you from the airport. If you do, then we will need your flight name and number and arrival time. We will be holding your name sign at the passenger pick up area. Even if it is at 2 a.m. we can pick you.
2. Question: Is your hotel safe?
Answer: Yes. Our hotel is very safe. We are a 20 room medium size hotel catering mainly to the traveller who is visiting Sri Lanka. We do not give 'Day rooms'. ( for few hours). Also we do not let local boys and girls go to the rooms. This Keeps the trouble makers out and makes our hotel a fun, friendly, safe and a family oriented hotel. We encourage Sri Lankan families to visit us too. If you are looking for a small, quiet hotel this is the perfect place for you.

Is it safe to travel to Sri Lanka?
Answer: Yes it is safe. There is fighting in some part of Sri Lanka. But overall Sri Lanka is very safe. All the tourist areas are safe. Our people are friendly and will help you if you come across any problem.
4. Question: Do we have to pay for the room at the time of booking?
Answer: No. You don't have to pay when you book. We do not accept any payment through the internet. You only pay on arrival or when you check out. If you have to cancell your booking please email us before your arrival date.
5. Question: Do you have a restaurant ?
Answer:Yes we do have a restaurant. Our Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our prices are very reasonable. Price Range from Rs 200 to Rs 650. Most of our dished are Rs 300 to 400 Range. We serve eastern as well as western food.6. Question: Does your hotel have a swimming pool?
Answer: Sorry we don't have a swimming pool. But you can use the pool at Berjaya Mount Royal Hotel. Pool Fee per day is Rs 250. Its only two minutes walk from our hotel. or you can use the Mount Lavinia Hotel pool. This hotel is beautiful and you will enjoy your swim. (Rs 350 per person).
7. Question: How far is your hotel from the Colombo railway station. (Fort)?
Answer: It will take 20 to 30 min to get to the Fort railway station. You can go by car, three wheeler or by bus. A car or three wheeler will cost about Rs 600 and the bus will cost RS 50.
8. Question: Will I be able to find a hospital if I fall sick?
Answer: Yes. We are very close to Colombo and you can find enough hospitals around. If you fall sick on your tour we will take you to the nearest hospital. We will do our best to ensure your vacation is great.
9. Question: Do I need Visa to go to Sri Lanka?
Answer: Most of the countries do not need a visa. But on arrival You will be given a one month visa. If you want to stay more than a month you can extend your visa at the passport office for a fee.
10.Question: How close are you from the airport?
Answer: We are 1 hour and 20 min drive from the airport. But if you get caught to the rush hour traffic it will take upto 2 hrs. We are only 15-20 minutes from downtown Colombo.
11. Question: Does your hotel face the beach?
Answer: Our hotel does not face the beach. But we are only 2 minutes walk to the beach. We were not hit by the tsunami.
12. Question: Do you have internet Access?
Answer: Yes we do have internet in our hotel lobby as well as in all the rooms. Our fee to use the internet is US $ 1 for one hour. But you can bring your lap top and use our wireless connection from our rooms for US$ 2 per day.
13. Question: What time is Breakfast?
Answer: We serve breakfast from 7.00 a.m. to 10 a.m. Please come for breakfast between this time. We serve Western and Sri Lankan breakfast.
14. Question: Why don't you give day rooms for 3 or 4 hrs?
Answer: We do not provide short stay day rooms because some clients like to use hotels as their brothel house. We do not provide rooms for this type of clients. We will also not allow our clients to take girls or boys to their rooms who want to give them a good time. If you are looking for this type of hotel, then you need to look for another hotel. Not ours.
15. Question: Any scam I need to know before we arrive?
Answer: Yes. There are 2 related to our hotel. Scam # 1. If any one tells you they work for Tropic Inn and wants to borrow Rs 500 or Rs 1000 or any amount, do not give. This person will tell you he is working in the kitchen and came to buy vegetables and he is short of money and will return once he goes to the hotel. Dont give. Scam # 2. Beware of Mr Joseph Gunesakera at the Travel counter desk at the Airport. If you are one of our guests, he will approach you and will tell you he is the owner of Tropic Inn. Will offer to get one of his drivers to drop you at Tropic Inn and will arrange a tour for you and will take your money. He is not the owner of Tropic Inn and does not work for us. He is tall and lighter complex and speaks very good english.
16.Question: We want to go on a tour, but can we discuss with you once we arrive at your hotel?
Answer: Yes, for sure. Once you are at our hotel let us know you want to go on a tour. We will sit with you and discuss the tour plan. If you are satisfied with our price and the tour itinary you could book the tour with us. If you are not satisfied you can always say no and we will not pressure you in doing the tour with us.
17. Question: Why do you also have a Canada Phone number? Do we have to pay agents fee if we book through them?
Answer: We have a Canadian phone number because our internet booking is done in Toronto Canada. You don't have to pay any agents fee. Our Toronto reservation office is our own and its not an agent. Because of the time differences it is easy for the European and Noth American clients to call Toronto.
18. Question: Do you have a safe deposit box in the room?
Answer: No we dont have a safe deposit box in the room. You can leave your valuables in our hotel safe. We will not be responsible for any lost items in the room.
19.Question:Do you clean our rooms everyday?
Answer: Yes we do clean your rooms everyday. Please leave your key at the reception when you leave in the morning and you will come back to a clean comfortable room again.. We change your sheets every other day.
